- What's your style and goals? / どういうスタイル、目標ですか？）
- Not sure what my style is but lots of people seem to like it. Darkness has always been a theme. Instead of 'available light' I suppose 'available darkness' would be one way to put it: moody, brooding, gritty. Adjectives other people have used to describe it.
I spent three years at art college in the UK, at the end of the 1980s, and learned all my craft on film and in darkrooms. Have been shooting since I was seven years old and have shot everything from half-frame 35mm to 10x8 inch plates. Mostly shoot digital SLR these days but still shoot film [35, medium and large formats] when I have the time.
Goals for the next 12 months? I am on the list to be judged for an exhibition at the Nikon Salon in Ginza, so I hope that comes off; want to translate shooting for Glastonbury Festival and lots of bands in the UK to shooting at Fuji Rock soon; to finish the book I am making of my work; and to hit the big time! Am also starting a photo agency this year with five fellow Tokyo photographers.

- Have had lots of work published in the music press over the years, from BBC Music Magazine to The Independent newspaper in the UK. Was head photographer and picture editor for the Glastonbury Festival official website in 2002; exhibited in London, Bristol, Wales, Sheffield and more. Have also exhibited in Tokyo and have two more shows planned for 2008/9 so far.

Wide Open: Tokyo at Maximum Aperture - an exhbition of photography by me, Shibuya, 2008/10/5
Hi all. Just wanted to tell you a little about my forthcoming exhibition which starts on October 5th at the Pink Cow, Shibuya.

Photo Nite: my verdict
I am never entirely sure what to expect from networking evenings, apart from having the opportunity to meet some new people and, well, network. The concept of Photo Nite is excellent and what attracted me to it was the opportunity the organisers alluded to of meeting people who were in the business of either commissioning or buying photography. In addition to this, there was a chance to have one of my pieces of work on the wall, have it auctioned and attract some interest that way.
